Tara Clark - Founder & Lead MUA

Hey, I’m Tara…

I’m an extroverted, extrovert, I love to laugh, socialise and drink wine (not in that order), have a weird obsession with Vampires and a penchant for quoting Sex and the City. I run the show here at Black Lash HQ which means from the minute you decide to get in touch I’m responsible for the experience you have with my business, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

I head up a team of highly skilled mobile hair and makeup artists who pride themselves on listening to your requests while also offering expert advice. Our service isn’t simply about applying makeup or doing hair, it’s about helping you be the best version of you and giving you an hour of uninterrupted “me time”.

Why Makeup?

My business story started out being all about my kids. I went from having no kids to having 4 (one of which was unplanned) in under 4 years. I couldn’t possibly return to my job in Finance and having qualified as a Makeup Artist when I left school, I thought it was great opportunity to do something I loved but that would still allow me to put everyone else first.

A couple of years in and it dawned on me that’s exactly the attitude I’m trying to change. How can I help women to see that taking time for them is important when I can’t separate my business from being a mother myself!

What I’ve come to realise over the last few years of running my business is that it’s less about the kids and more about YOU. The women out there that feel like everything in life comes before them, that there’s never enough time to do anything that makes you feel good about being you.

From One to Many…

Tara now heads up a boutique team of highly skilled mobile hair and makeup artists that provide mobile hair and makeup services at your home, office or hotel. They pride themselves on listening to their clients requests as well as offering their expert advice in order to create the perfect, tailored look for you and your event.

Whether you have booked at the Landsdale Studio, or a mobile service with one of the team, you will receive the same caring service which focuses on client experience and natural looking makeup using only the best quality products.

Makeup that feels like you

If you want to look like everybody else, you’ve definitely come to the wrong place. I’m not in the business of sculpting faces to look like the hoards of women trying to be something, anything but themselves. What I do love to do is provide you with an experience that leaves you feeling relaxed, cared for, confident and beautiful. My service isn’t simply about applying makeup, it’s about helping you to be the best version of you by giving yourself an hour of uninterrupted “me time”.

What you’ll get from a visit to my studio:

  • A self-indulgent experience that fulfills the 5 senses

  • A personalised consult to ensure a look is tailored just for you

  • Quality products, which look and feel great

  • Makeup that will bring out the best version of you AND last the distance

  • Confidence that you will be heading off to your event looking and feeling splendid

What you won’t get:

  • A cookie cutter makeup application

  • Heavy contouring and foundation that looks like a mask

  • Cheap ass products

  • A rushed application, leaving you stressed and anxious

So yes, a fancy website and magazine covers aren’t worth anything if I don’t provide a quality makeup application. My special event and Bridal Services include lashes and my kit is full with quality products from MAC, Hourglass, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Too Faced & Nars to list a few. I have experience with sensitive skin types and pride myself on making non-makeup wearers feel comfortable and not overdone.

makeup is my specialty, but…..

I am now offering hair styling for Special Event & Branding clients and small weddings. If you would like some waves or a classy updo then I can definitely help you out. Now for the posh bit!

Tara Clark, Owner and MUA at Black Lash Makeup, graduated from Australian College of Natural Health Sciences in 1996 & Australian College of Beauty Therapy in 2001 with Certificates in Makeup Artistry. In 2017 she completed an Advanced Certificate in Makeup Artistry from Artists at Play. Black Lash Makeup provides services for Special Events, Bridal and Branding Photography, as well as Private Makeup Lessons and Workshops. Clark’s work has been published in 5 issues of WA Wedding and Bride Magazine as well as other publications.

Tara Clark is the Founder and Lead Makeup Artist at Black Lash Makeup and mother to twin girls Sadie and Patience, daughter Luca and son Finn.

She received her first qualification in makeup artistry over 20 years ago but decided after children to turn her devotion for cosmetics into her full time gig.

Clark’s philosophy revolves around makeup that looks natural and most of all leaves you feeling like the best version of you. She believes in providing a self-indulgent experience where women can take time out for themselves.

Clark’s work has been featured on the cover of WA Wedding and Bride 5 times, as well as having written articles and featured in a number of other publications.

Clark believes that all women put themselves on the back burner with everyday pressures rendering their needs less important. Her approach is really about giving women back that time to feel good about themselves and attend their events feeling relaxed, confident and beautiful.

Black Lash was born out of necessity when, after having her 3 daughters via IVF, Clark unexpectedly fell pregnant with her son Finn. Facing the prospect of having 4 children under 4 years old, Clark felt it was too difficult to return to her 40+ hours a week job in the Finance industry. With makeup always a passion, Clark believed this was her opportunity to turn it into a full time career.

When Clark isn’t painting faces she can be found drinking wine with friends or at one of the many Perth Dance Competitions so she can live vicariously through her 3 daughters.
