Guide to Makeup Brushes

During my makeup workshops and 1:1 makeup lessons, I am often asked for my recommended makeup brushes or which are the best makeup brushes for beginners to use at home. The truth is you can make any brush work for you if you understand what you are using it for and how to look after it.

So, which makeup Brushes do you really need?

Recently I recorded a an IGTV on How to apply individual lashes. I always found individual lashes scary because I wasn’t very good at applying them to the top side of my lashes with one eye closed. However, I found a easy way to apply them to the underside, so easy in fact, you could do it on the daily if you wanted too!

Let’s kick off by explaining - What is a Bridal Makeup Trial? A Bridal Makeup Trial is an appointment you have before your wedding day which allows us to test and confirm your wedding day makeup as if it were the day itself. It is an opportunity to try looks that you like so that on your actual wedding day you have confidence in what your makeup will look like, how well it will last and most importantly that your makeup artist knows what you want and is able to deliver it. Put simply, a Bridal Trial ensures that on your wedding day you will be anxiety free in relation to your makeup and preparations can be calm and enjoyable.

When I wrote my Christmas gift blog last year I could not have foreseen the year that lay ahead. We’ve definitely had it all in 2020! The last few months for me have been hectic to say the least, so the monthly blog has taken a bit of a backseat. Let’s kick off this month with a temperature check. How is everyone? Are you coping? Are you bored, miss your friends? Is your other half driving you batshit crazy or have you vowed never to bad mouth your child’s teacher ever again? All of the above? Look I’ll be honest I don’t really have a lot of spare time to be bored but pretty much everything else is a feeling I’ve felt in the last couple of weeks if not the last couple of hours! I definitely miss painting faces so I’ve been spending a bit of time playing and just having fun with some looks that I wouldn’t normally do. I’ve also been really indulging in my skin care. Now is the time to get all those little samples of face masks, and exfolliators and deep clean cleansers out of the back of the cupboard and give them a try.

I’m sure there are many of you who like me, hate wearing layers of product on your skin when it’s 103 degrees outside so this month I thought I’d focus on some products that are lightweight and/or help to keep the makeup we are wearing where we have put it..
