3 Products .20

Posted 1 February 2020

I want you to close your eyes for 5 seconds….. Did you see that, you missed January! Well I certainly did anyway. School holidays have played havoc with my business routine but with 3 full days to myself this year, thank you non-compulsory kindy, I’m excited about all the makeup goodness I’m going to be able to deliver straight to your inbox. I do owe you a 3 products blog however for the month formerly known as January and although I haven’t really been putting pen to paper, I’ve still been putting product on my face…. So here’s what’s breaking my bank this (ahem, last) month.

Sunday Riley – Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment

There’s no denying the range from this Texan born Chemist is good, BUT it’s a little more than what I would usually spend on my skincare. So when I got the chance to try the cult favourite which has got everyone talking I jumped at the chance. I think the only thing you want to know is – is Good Genes worth the $130 price tag? The answer – Oh my lord yes it is! Good Genes claims to use lactic acid to plump fine lines, restore firmness and exfoliate the skin. Look I can’t tell you for sure what it actually did but after I used it I felt like I’d had a freakin facelift! I have somewhat sensitive skin so I only left it on for 10mins as suggested but that was ample time to see results. It is supposed to be gentle enough to use everyday but I’m not of the opinion that you would need to use it that much to be honest, unless you are hoping to see the brightening effects promised by the addition of Licorice. For a noticeable reduction in pigmentation you would probably need to use it quite often which obviously means you are going through more of it. My skin was taught, smooth, radiant and looked so 2019. If Good Genes has been on your radar, go to Mecca and get a sample STAT, you won’t be disappointed.

Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen my mini review on this 5 minute makeup staple the other day. I have the world's shortest and sparsest (is that even a word) eyelashes and this mascara gives me life. It magically lengthens and separates my shorties, holds curl and lasts all day. It applies smoothly and evenly which I love as I'm often doing it in a hurry and it's BLACK! In order for it to add real volume to my lashes I do feel like I need to add more than one coat but for everyday wear, one swipe with the multi-bristled brush is really all that’s required. It’s also Vegan which I know is becoming important to more and more of us in this day and age.

I've always believed mascara is one of those products where the drugstore brands will deliver a similar result but this primo product is definitely worth your hard earned cash.

Addendum: I had a couple of people message me after my post saying that they liked the mascara but found it difficult to remove which proves the point that for a non-waterproof mascara it is very long wearing. For tips on removing long wearing makeup please refer to September’s blog where I review Drunk Elephant’s Slaii Cleanser.

Nars High Pigment Longwear Eyeliner

I don’t often wear eyeliner anymore but when I do, I want something that is going to last the distance, something that is blendable and something that gives me great colour payoff. I really love these Nars Eyeliner’s as they tick all my boxes. It gives great buildable colour which can be blended and diffused out with a brush/fingers or left to set and is immoveable. They look great on their own or used to add depth to shadow and they hold well in your waterline unlike a kohl pencil which is pretty much gone with the first blink! It doesn’t leave you with the dreaded panda eyes even if you don’t use an eye primer first and they come in the most delicious and rich colours. They go on smoothly and evenly and can be used to create dramatic eye looks or simply finish off with a lick of mascara.

I know what you're thinking, worth the wait right! The good news is that because this one was so late, the next one won't be so far away. Start saving your pennies because I can already feel that beauty spending spree coming on.

As always if you have any comments or questions, or would like to make a suggestion on a product you'd like my thoughts on, please feel free to get in touch here.
